We can hardly believe, we’ve been planning events, meeting new friends and raising money for research that saves children’s lives for 10 years. Yep, The Children’s Heart Foundation Oregon turns 10 this year.
The past decade has been such an inspiration and when we started planning what we could do to celebrate, we thought about you, our community, and drew our inspiration from all the support over the years – the ice cream shop that hosted our kids for a social last year, the heart Mom who holds a tennis tournament to benefit CHF, the board member whose birthday party was a fundraiser, and to Ivy who asked if her sale of Girl Scout Cookies could benefit heart research (the answer was sadly “no” ).
So here’s our plan. Hold your event, invite your friends, make it a fundraiser if you want. Tell us how you are going to celebrate our 10th! We have a map online where you can see everything that’s going on – and as soon as you are ready, we will add your event too.
As for Ivy, who was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries, she has turned her passion for swimming into a fundraiser. Ivy asked her extended family to sponsor her, and three times a week, she swims laps. So far she has completed 73 laps, and her grandparents, aunts and uncles have promised to sponsor her for $0.50/lap. With 6 weeks to go, she is hopeful she’ll raise some money for heart research! See her as pin #1 on our map.
Join In. You can plan your event and add it to the map by filling in this form online with the name of your event, the address or locale, and your goal, and we’ll put you on the map! Whether your event is a fundraiser or a way to raise awareness, we would love to hear about it.
